Saddleworth Fire

Sometimes I come across events that I think need to be documented, this was too big of an event for me to pass up. The moors of Saddleworth were on fire for over 3 weeks in July 2018 and affected 7sq miles of heather and peat, creating a scene I’ve never witnessed before. These images are taken on the north side of the fire, the wind was in my favour and I was on the edge of a steep outcrop. Just by the side of where the flames had reached, I managed to get a quick collection of beautiful long exposures before hurrying down the side of the moors in pitch darkness, back to safety.
